Dog Grooming Services
Basic Bath
Not all pooches have the fur that requires a full groom! Many of our shorter haired pups still, however require a good bath to promote a healthy coat and skin. Not only them but often the pups that do have a full groom require regular upkeep in between appointments to ensure they able to have an easier full groom when the time rolls around! The Basic Bath provides

The Pawfect Pamper
Many of the popular breeds nowadays need regular clipping, trimming and in some cases hand stripping to maintain a healthy coat. Without regular maintenance our beloved pups can often get knotted and eventually matted which can be very uncomfortable and cause a lot of additional issues and no one wants that! The Pawfect Pamper provides

The Neat & Tidy
Some of our furry friends have a coat that doesn’t require any clipping, whether it’s a double or a silky coat. However a little trim here and there will help keep them looking their best! The Neat and Tidy includes

Hearty hand Strip
Hand stripping involves removing dead hairs from a dog’s coat by hand instead of clipping to keep the coat tidy and healthy.
Usually completed twice a year in spring and autumn, it speeds up the natural process of growth and shedding. Most commonly it involves wire coats but can also have exceptions in drop coats and double coats.

The little paws puppy groom
It’s really important that your little pups get groomed as soon as possible so they can get used to and learn to love the grooming experience. It’s recommended they come in two week after their last set of vaccinations. Little paws aren’t clipped on their first visit to the salon, but as they grow from a puppy to an adult coat this may change depending on breed and a grooming regime suggested to suit them. During their first visit your little pooch will be introduced in a relaxed and fun way to the sights, sounds and smells of the grooming salon ensuring that future visits are stress free.

About me.
Meet Lucy, the owner.
Hiya! My name is Lucy and I’m the owner of Pepper’s Parlour. I’ve been dog grooming since I was 19, it all started as having a love for dogs and wanting to spend all my time with them. Which then lead me down the path of dog grooming. I decided to hone my abilities by going to a specialised training school and studied there for 6 months in order to gain my ICMG and City and Guilds qualifications. With my new found qualifications I decided to start my own business in my childhood village of Freckleton.

Meet Pepper, the mascot.
Woof! My name is Pepper. I’m a 3 year old collie x kelpie.
I came from a farm in the middle of Wales and was the last female puppy left, my mum wanted the runt however she ended up with me, the most boisterous of all my siblings! My favourite things are tennis balls, sticks, long walks and swimming. My mum named her business after me as I’m her first dog and she wanted a way to show how special I am to her.

The International Certified Master Groomer course requires a groomer to demonstrate advanced grooming skills and complete written exams. The practical exams where you cover a breed standard cut, double coated and a toy, require groomers to display their skills in grooming and show technical skills, balance and angulation.
ICMG also leads to professional show grooming competitions and more advanced grooming techniques.

Level 2 of the City and Guilds course includes the basics of dog grooming which enables the ability to become an assistant dog groomer, kennel worker. It teaches how to bathe and clean dogs as well as handling, controlling and basic skills.
Level 3 of the City and Guilds course is the highest qualification and leads to a professional career in dog grooming, from breed standard cuts to basic cuts and everything in between. As well as teaching how to run a salon and everything else that comes with it.

What You Need To Know About DOG Grooming
Regular grooming upkeep provides a healthier coat and skin for your dog and is an integral part of a dog’s care. There’s many different types of coat and each requires their own special care and attention.
Curly coated dogs such as poodles, cocker poos, bichon frise and labradoodles have fur that spirals and matts up easily if not groomed regularly, so require maintenance every 6-8 weeks with regular brushing and care inbetween appointments.
Drop coated dogs such as shih tzus, yorkshire terriers, maltese, lhasa apso and spaniels have a flowy silky coat that requires moisture to keep the coat smooth and flat as well as regular grooming appointments every 6-8 weeks.
Wire coated dogs such as schnauzers, wired haired dachshunds, border terriers, Irish wolfhounds, airedale terriers and wired jack russell’s have coarse coats with a harsh wire texture that need to be hand stripped twice a year to maintain the texture and don’t need bathing as regularly so every 8-12 weeks.
Double coated dogs such as german shepherds, huskies, pomeranians, newfoundlands, golden retrievers and border collies have two layers of coat consisting of a dense undercoat and a longer protective topcoat they have a big shed twice a year but still shed regularly throughout, they need semi regular grooming every 8-12 weeks.
Smooth coated dogs such as labradors, pugs, french bulldogs, rottweilers, dalmations, weimaraners and beagles have the easiest coat to maintain as it is short and tight to the skin and doesn’t need cutting or clipping but can still shed, therefore they need appointments every 8-12 weeks.
Nowadays nearly everyone has a dog or knows of someone who does, with that comes with more and more research into dogs and their individual needs. Grooming is one of the practices that has become more recognised as beneficial to a dog’s health and wellbeing.
